It's because David Cameron has been so wrong in the past - actually we do like the "Punch and Judy" politics. It's on occasions such as PMQ's that the Leader of the Opposition has the best opportunity of portraying his side as a credible alternative, and the injection of some passion and anger can do no harm at all.

I heard it first and thought agreed with your view. But on TV, Brown looked desperate at times. Whilst I think the press have gone overboard, there were some excellent soundbites.

e.g. "Get some courage, find some bottle, get in your car and go to Buckingham Palace and call an election."

I watched it on telly and thought Cameron definately won about 70% to 30% - Brown seemed to make a few fair points. But i was still surprised by the reports (particularly ITV's) of Brown 'floundering on the ropes like an old tired heavyweight'. Mind you, he is in a fair old mess it would seem

Remember when David Miliband let slip on Question Time last winter - "Oh, as soon as Gordon Brown becomes PM you'll all be screaming to bring back Tony Blair!"

How ironic! :)

Dave had the soundbites that took lumps out of Gordon. Over the whole PMQ's perhaps it was closer - but the great bulk of the electorate, insofar as they saw anything, saw the Prime Minister stripped of the authority of his office by Cameron. The ITN News at 10.30 was desperate stuff for Brown. "Those that don't like blood-sports should look away now...."

On a party political level, wonderful stuff. But, in the broader national interest - heaven help us when this man has to go into bat for Britain....
